The Other Side Of Reality

Hey, my name's Chris. I'm 5'11", blonde h... ah what the hell, that's my picture to the left.

Snobording
I just started snowboarding last December and it's quite a change considering I had been skiing for 4 years. Some say it's similar to skiing but in my opinion it's COMPLETELY different. Your feet don't move independently and when you fall the board stays with you (unless your bindings break).

If you're planning on learning how to snowboard, DON'T GIVE UP!!!!! The first day is REALLY discouraging. Your ass will hurt so bad and the rest of your body feels like it spent a week in and industrial vice press. But each day will get better and better. By the 4th day, you'll be able to handle the slopes with relative ease.

After the 3rd day, I was addicted to it. I can't wait until next season. It's a constant adrenaline rush and you never want it to end.

Some advice:
Work WITH gravity, not against it. It can be your worst enemy or your best friend and tool.

Let Gravity and the Mountain take you where it wants you to go. Usually that's the safest route. If you try to tackle the most difficult run, you'll have the most difficult time doing it.

Wax counts. There are many tipes of wax for the many tipes of snow and tipe of boarding you're planning on surviving. There's powder wax, wax for icey snow, wet snow, cold snow, warm snow, fast snow, slow snow, durty snow, fresh snow, groomed snow and more. Try the many different waxes and see what works THE BEST in all conditions.

Snowboarding is a big dedication and somewhat expensive. If you don't stick to it, you'll never stick with it. If you're a skiier, it's difficult to handle the transition between moving your feet independently to moving your feet in transition in a fixed stance. Depending on the resort you go to, lift tickets are usually expensive.
